Dental tourism is becoming an increasingly popular concept. In order to save money on dental treatment, people are traveling out of the country in order to get the work done at a lower cost. Unfortunately, there are several risks associated with this practice that you need to know about.

The Dentist Might Not Be Qualified

When going out of the country for dental treatment, how will you know if the dentist working on your teeth is appropriately qualified to do so? Not every country will have the same requirements for dental training and education that are mandated in the U.S., and your treatment might reflect this lack of experience.

Something Bad Could Happen
If something goes wrong when getting treatment overseas and you need emergency services, you might not have this available to you. You also won't have the support from your family members, and language barriers could complicate your care.

In the U.S. and other first world countries, dental practices are required to adhere to some strict infection control protocols that may not be an issue in other parts of the world.
